Saint Valentine
Saint Valentine was a
priest who lived long ago at the time of the Roman Emperor, Claudius II.
Claudius would not let soldiers marry. However, Valentine secretly performed
marriage services for them. Then, he was discovered and was thrown in jail.
Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter while he was in prison. On
the day he was put to death he sent her a little note which he signed, Your
Valentine. Nowadays, many people think that Saint Valentine’s Day has something
to do whit that story.
